I did get the switch reset .

Problem found was a clear switch that was in pieces and to take the switch apart and do a manual shorting of the 2 pins .

Does anyone know if hp sells parts like maybe a switch complete power supply and maybe fans ?

Glad you found the culprit.

With regards to option parts (including spare parts) I think only ones listed by HP/HPE for HP ProCurve 3400cl Switch series are officially purcheaseable as parts that can be replaced by user/technician.

Used/New (New Old Stock) option/spare parts or very specific internal parts (fans/power supply units) can eventually be found through other supply channels...and could be physically replaced by you (instead of through a Support Center) but this maybe is going to definitely invalidate product (limited/unlimited) lifetime warranty, if any.

Your question hasn't a single valid answer: generally a VLAN dedicated to devices' management is created as long as all others required VLANs. If that VLAN dedicated to Management purposes has an IP address and if IP routing is enabled on your network you can administer any devices that has an IP addresd on that dedicated VLAN subnet...without necessarily connecting an host to a port (untagged) on that VLAN (that very host could be on another VLAN subnet and it's just required to add a static route to the VLAN dedicated to Management's IP Address)...that's because there is routing in place. It's just sufficient that you made your uplinks' interfaces tagged members of that VLAN other than the others you would normally transport between devices. Since an uplink port is up also its VLANs are all in up state.

Note that I wrote "VLAN dedicated to management purposes" (so just a normal VLAN) and not "Management VLAN" - is a special VLAN - which is generally not routeable (like in the case of OoBM)

Please check the reachability & any spanning tree issues. You may need to console the device & view logs

good afternoon
The configuration and backup files of my hp 1920-48G switch were deleted and the consequence of this action is that the device does not boot. I downloaded the files on the HP support website and they are saved to the pendrive. How do I copy them to the switch so that the device can boot normally

i have a new hpe 1920s switch, and i want the up-link to be from another hpe switch wich connected to my dhcp server, so i configured trunk on port 24 of my new switch and on port 48 of my old switch, and i configured the trunk port to be tagged for my all vlans which is 10, 100-108, 200, in both swirches.

and i configured the rest of the ports on my new switch on vlan 105, so the switch suppose to take the subnet 172.22.105.0.

but it's not working, anyone can help me?

Hi All,

I am new to the world of HP so please fogive the newb question.

I have two procuvre 5412s on a legacy network that I need to cross connect to a parallel build environment (using FF5700s) with a aggregated ports for migrating servers. The problem is that both networks use VLAN 1 on diferent subnets.

What I wanted to do was setup 2 1Gb untagged VLAN 1 aggregated ports on the procurve and connect them to 2 1Gb untagged ports on VL599 on the FF5700s then trunk the vlan to the servers that we are migrating to.

I set up the ports on the procurve in a trunk lacp and connected them to ports on the 5700 in a Bridge aggregation group (set to access port) thinking it would be isolated but it caused a spanning tree melt down. I tracked the issue down to be the fact that there are bridges set to pri 0 on both sides. This caught me by surprise and caused an outage for a few minutes.

Can anyone help me with a safe way do achieve this?

Nope, I have the same issue and haven't found the answer yet.

The FreeRADIUS wiki page on HP does have an interesting comment that although MAC Auth and 802.1x proceeds simultaneously, the result of the 802.1x will always take precedence. So as long as you refrain from setting different VLANs for each method (which would probably cause DHCP issues - the client would take an address from one VLAN then get switched to another) it should not be an issue.

That said it would be nice to have a proper solution given that Cisco and even HP Comware support a timeout, and ProCurve has so many other timers we can configure just not this one!
