Re: LinkAggregation/LACP between 2 HP 1920 48G possible 1920 to 195048G not possible / not working

This I allready tried. It is an LACP problem between one of the 1920 an the 1950.

I can, or at the moment it is my working solution, connect via single link any of the 2 other 1920 switches with the 1950 and the connection is working. I can ping/reach between a single link connection anything from anywhere. The 2 1920 are also working fine via link aggregation with each other, and also by single link. Only the LACP between one of the two 1920 and the 1950 is not working.

So, you have a single link with no bridge aggregation and it works fine.

Next step make a second link and make sure it works fine.  Disable link 1 and make sure link2 is working..

When you have two known good links, then create the bridge aggregation on one of them, get that working and then add the second link to the bridge aggregation.

Even though these are supposedly "HP" switches, the 1920s are in reality just re-branded anonymous stuff from Singapore (I think?), so you need to treat this as a multi-vendor exercise, in other words you need to find the combination of trunking options on each side that will let it work.
When trying to create trunks between different vendors, often you wouldn't try LACP as your first choice of what might work, so I'd be trying the 1920 side on "static" from the get-go.
The 1950 is re-branded 3COM, but you're still going to have the problem of guessing what the garbage in the GUI actually means in terms of configuration, unless you can figure out how to break into the proper CLI. Apparently in 3COM-speak, "dynamic" means static, or so I was told on another thread. I don't recall ever having trouble doing aggregated links on 3COMs, and I rarely use LACP so whatever it is, it can't be that hard or I would remember a struggle. Key words are "trunk" or "static", and LACP or 802.3ad should be off wherever possible.

At first thanks for your help!

A = 1. 1920

B = 2. 1920

C = 1950

  • One link, without link aggregation, between A and B, A and C or B and C is working on any avaiable port
  • At the moment between A and B there is a 3 port LACP dynamic link aggregation, which is working fine. I will destroy it and rebuild it as static one, but this only can happen on one of the next weekends.
  • A static or dynamic link aggregation between B and C is also "working". All ports are in trunk mode, including the BAGG's, and the link is up, if the port/s on the corresponding 1920 are in same mode. It also doesnt matter, if I only took one or the desired 3. The problem with this link is always no ping or whatsoever is going over this aggregation / port/s. Through a "direct" link between those 2 switches pings aso are working well.
  • All link aggregation ports on all switches are in VLAN 100,200 and in trunk mode. The rest on all switches are in the standard.
  • Also all link aggregation ports are untagged from the standard VLAN.

Questions:

  • I connected A<->B<->C, or would you connect A<->B<->C<->A over a static link aggregation with all ports in trunk mode?
  • Do I have to put all link aggregation ports on all in only one VLAN, or A<->B in one VLAN and B<->C in another VLAN?

One of the next weekends i will be able to test anything we discuss. ATM I am trying, besides the working hours, only little changes / tests.

Switch HP 1920 jg927a not working

Greetings!

I'm new here, and I'm glad for this community for exchange experiences and learn something.

I have a problem with onde switch hp 1920 jg927a.

This equipment is not passing internet signal to the equipment that is connected to it. If I connect a PC or a notebook directly to any port on the switch, there is no signal. Neither does the door LED illuminate. All this happened suddenly because they were running smoothly.

See the images attached, the black cable come from the modem, and the yellow cable come my notebook, but the led's not up and no WAN.

The topology is as follows:

modem >> switch >> lan area, with Ubiquiti access point and three PC's.

I already changed cables, doors and nothing worked.

Can you help me what could be wrong?

Ok I was hoping the telnet interface would have MAC authentication per port. Is this possible on the switch?

I understood what is happening the doors from 17 to 24 are all damaged. None are working, but the others from 1 to 16 work perfectly. My uplink was on port 17, then I moved on to 21 and probably and so I had no network signal.

And now, what to do?
Does the warranty cover such problems?

Try with below

OID for CPU usage = .1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.14.11.15.2.6.1.1.1.1.6

Config link aggregation between ESXi 6.0 U3 (free edition) and Switch HP 1920-48G JG927A

I'm trying a couple of days to set up a link aggregation between an HP Switch HP 1920-48G JG927A and ESXi 6.0 U3 (free version). J; I've tried several configurations and algorithms of LACP (in ESXi), but the maximum I could do was to create a failover with 4 links ... one of them is active and the others in failover mode. But what I want is to join 4 1GB link to create a 4GB link.

I also read that this would only be possible in the paid version of ESXi, since it would have to use a distributed switch and not the virtual switch that the free version provides. That's right?

Yup, same issue here using the latest firmware available for the HPE 1920-8G, I'm using an ECC Root CA (ECC 256 with SHA256).

I originally thought it was because the whole certificate was ECC, so I created a RSA one and still the same, it appears it doesn't like our Root CA.

The really annoying thing is our HP ENVY Printer had no problem with the RSA certificate I generated for it!

Been working through this issue myself recently.  Got a 1910-8G running 5.20 Release 1519P03 and started having this problem when I needed to renew my web server cert for the switches admin page.  The only thing I found to work was to disable CA verification by deleting the fingerprint information in PKI Domain.  Not ideal, but works.  Hope it helps.

HP 1950 (JG961A) secondary IP

I need to configure a secondary IP address on a VLAN on this Layer 3 switch.

I'm trying to do it from Network -> IP, then I edit the VLAN. When I try I get this error:

Maximum number of IP addresses already reached.

I already upgraded to latest version (7.1.070 Release 3208P03).

HP 5000 UPS

Hi

We have 2 HP R5000 UPS units racked. These are old and look to have never been managed. I am relatively new to the job and have tried connecting to these with a serial to USB converter. I have folowed the guide but I am still having trouble connecting to the units. The cable itself is fine and shows under COM1. It looks like it attempts to estabilish a connection as I can see the device show as "other device" through Windows. It simply states it cannot communicate with the device.

I am using WIndows 10. Flow control is turned off as per the documentation and I also have tried turning it off on putty with the same result of being unable to connect

Can anyone suggest anything that might let me connect through putty?

Regards,

Gareth

Which VLAN?

Can you share the sanitized 1950's running configuration?
